April 2005

Hi to all,

A Spring newsletter with lots of summer news.

Firstly, the new tee shirts are in! They look really sharp (no pun intended) and are $15. Choose from Desert Fencing Academy or Corps-a-Corps, Sin of the Fleche

The tee shirts are a Vegas gold with black graphics.

We now have a website! Log on to www.desertfencingacademy.com.

Lots of info and links to the USFA, colleges and universities that have NCAA fencing, our DFA fencing schedules and newsletters and much more. Our thanks to Josh Butler for designing the website and being the webmaster.

Please visit our website for the complete summer schedule of classes.

DFA will close the last week in July and re-open Tuesday, September 6.

GENERAL NEWS:
Many of our fencers will be attending fencing camp this summer.

Nico Bergmann
Scott Pippin
David Roberts
Aaron Fagan
Linden Ballen
Mitchell Link

Chasen Chapman will be at the Air Force Academy for a week.

Chasen, Julie Austin and I will be at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs for Armourers' College and Lee Ernst and I will also attend Coaches College惻 Lee will be taking Level I Foil and I will take Level II Sabre.

You may wonder what some of us fencers do other than fencing. Well, we like to run, so Gary Daniels (our pentathlete), Julie Austin and myself participated in the Women Running Wild 5k on March 20. And we run pretty fast. Gary ran the 3.1 mile course in 19:52, Julie in 33:44 and me in 29:06.

Wishing blissful fencing to all,
Leslie Taft
