Summer 2005

Hi, and happy Summer to everyone.

Good News:
The last tournament of the 2004-2005 season was held at College of the Desert in April with the awards presentation held at San Bernardino Valley College May 7th. Here are the end-of-season results for Desert Fencing Academy:

And, earning ratings this year:
SABRE

E05 Masaki Yamada

EPEE
C05 Leslie Taft
D05 Chasen Chapman

Congratulations to DFA, and all the fencers, on all their remarkable accomplishments this season!

And, at the Pacific Coast Championships, held in Las Vegas, May 14 and 15, Costa Nichols, Frank Campellone, Mark Johnson and Leslie Taft were there competing.

Congratulations to Leslie who took 3rd place in Womens' Sabre!

SUMMER SCHEDULE:
Beginning Monday, June 6 and continuing to July 18, we will have evening fencing at DFA starting at 7:30 p.m. Open fencing and lessons.

Beginning Monday, June 20 through Saturday, July 23, DFA will be open for fencing, Monday through Saturday. All beginning classes will begin at 1:00 p.m. and intermediate and advanced/competition classes will begin at 3:00 p.m.

As we leave behind the 2004-2005 fencing season and move into a slower time of summer, which is the best time to train and hone those fencing skills, I'd like to thank all the parents, grandparents, fencers and friends who have encouraged and supported DFA, and me, this past season. DFA is in its third year of operation and moving forward.

Fencing fees at DFA will remain unchanged for summer and the 2005-2006 fencing season.

And just what are those fees?

DFA Fee Schedule
$160 for 8-week beginning fencers classes
$30 monthly membership fee
$20 per lesson fee

SUMMER SCHOOL FOR FENCERS
The following DFA fencers will be at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs for a week of fencing training:

And the following fencers will be attending classes at the Olympic Training Center:

So, even though it is summer time, the fencers are busy, staying on the cutting edge so to speak!

Happy Summer and blissful fencing to all!
